Louis Vuitton began as a trunk and travel-goods maker and now produces handbags, small leather goods, ready-to-wear, footwear, watches, jewellery, and fragrance. Its coated-canvas monogram and Damier patterns are long-standing identifiers of the house. Products are sold almost entirely through directly operated stores, concessions, and its own e-commerce, with no third-party wholesale of leather goods. Founded in 1854 in France. Part of LVMH.
