Hermès began as a harness and saddlery workshop and now operates across leather goods, silk scarves, ready-to-wear, footwear, watches, fragrance, jewellery, and homeware. Its leather goods, including the Birkin and Kelly bags, are made in French workshops with individual artisan assembly, and supply is constrained by production capacity.
