Hermès began as a harness and saddlery workshop and now operates across leather goods, silk scarves, ready-to-wear, footwear, watches, fragrance, jewellery, and homeware. Its leather goods, including the Birkin and Kelly bags, are made in French workshops with individual artisan assembly, and supply is constrained by production capacity. The house sits at the highest luxury price tier and sells through around 300 directly operated stores.
Founded in 1837 in France. Part of Hermès International S.C.A.
